These are just a random sample of sites that I've come into contact with while writing this site. Some are related to the history of Liverpool, some are related to the technology used to contruct the site, should you want to do something similar. More details of this technology can be found on under About Historic Liverpool.

I'm beginning to build up a collection of bookmarks referred to by the Liverpool Landscapes history blog on the Delicious website. All my shared bookmarks are at http://delicious.com/mdgreaney under various categories, with the Historic Liverpool ones at http://delicious.com/mdgreaney/bundle:Historic Liverpool.
Other Liverpool History Sites
One of my favourite local history sites is:
Mike Royden's Local History Pages
Software and Data
The Mapserver technology I use is bundled with other useful tools as FWTools.
The data used in the maps comes from http://services.english-heritage.org.uk/NMRDataDownload/.
The background mapping is from the New Popular Editions web mapping service (WMS) at http://www.npemap.org.uk/.
History and Archives
I work at the National Monuments Record (http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/nmr), which is part of English Heritage.
The NMR operates several good online resources for the local and family historian, of which I have used three:
- Pastscape - search England's National Monuments Record.
- Images of England - contains a 'snapshot' of the listed buildings in England at the year 2000.
- Heritage Gateway - search through many of England's local Historic Environment Records, as well as the NMR's other sites.
